The Opportunity
I am looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join a small team in the South West of England who will be involved with providing commercial oversite to projects within the recently won contracts by Network Rail. The longevity of work should provide a great deal of stability and security for the right candidate, as well as the opportunity to grow with the team which is likely to need further expansion in the near future.
Location (s): Swindon
Responsibilities
- Support the procurement of subcontracts and purchase order formations.
- Manage subcontractor's payments ensuring compliance with the subcontracts, payment time scales and the issue of payless notices.
- Produce applications for payment and support client draft certificate reviews
- Manage subcontractor and supplier accounts
- Chair supplier payment application meetings when required
- Foster and maintain excellent supplier relationship engagement
- Identify, quantify and notify all project variations and maintain project change control and early warning registers
- Present contract changes to client and proactively manage the timely close out of all changes
- Responsible for periodic reporting that includes cost to date, cost to complete, and anticipated final cost and project value
- Process invoices in accordance with company procedures
- Produce and support monthly cost and value reports
- Maintain up to date contract and commercial records and information including correspondence and documentation on the standard Project File Structure.
- Uphold robust client relationships.
- Prepare and negotiate external applications to maximise cash flow with clients
- Attend client facing project progress meetings
Requirements
- Recognised quantity surveying qualification or relevant experience
- Working knowledge of Network Rail forms of contract and their administration including NEC, ICE, MF/1 and JCT, desirable not essential.
- Member of a professional body, or working towards
- Thorough understanding of the CVR reporting methodology
- Experience of quantity surveying on rail projects, desirable not essential
- Experience working in a principal contractor environment
- Awareness of all rail disciplines is desirable
