My client is a leading contractor within the UK railway construction industry working on multi-disciplinary projects as part of the five-year funding period encompassing civils, track renewals, signalling upgrades and electrification. 

They currently have a requirement for an experienced Quantity Surveyor/Senior QS to join their team in their Derby branch to develop the commercial strategy. They are looking for someone with at least 7 years of QS experience, ideally from working within a railway environment.

The chosen candidate will have previously worked in Quantity Surveying roles with main contractor companies and will be able to apply necessary procedures in conjunction with contractual requirements. You will also be tasked to manage subcontract accounts and produce weekly value and cost reports, monitoring progress and updating the operational team.

Requirements:

• BSc Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying
• Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (or working towards this)
• Railway industry experience
• Major construction project experience
• Working knowledge of the various forms of Conditions of Contact including NEC
• Good knowledge of construction and contract law
• High level of commercial awareness
