Senior Quantity Surveyor in West London, London, United Kingdom
Globally renowned construction company operating primarily in the transportation space are currently looking for an ambitious Senior Quantity Surveyor to join there highly motivated team of permanent staff based in Heathrow Airport.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be implementing rigorous measurement and certification of subcontract works as well as ensuring that works are valued to deliver contractual entitlement as well as delivering the necessary controls to provide accurate cost capture and reconciliation. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will also be responsible for preparing comparisons of cost with value across all schemes, activities and value streams as well as developing strategies to enhance performance and deliver best value to the client.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will perform the following tasks/duties;
To provide advice and guidance to managers on achieving value for money.
Responsible for the commercial relationships with subcontractors balancing the delivery of quality services with achieving best value for the business.
To be absolutely focused on cost control in all aspects of activity in line with the business financial systems.
To ensure effective integration with all aspects of projects and collaboration with project management teams to establish good communications.
To liaise with the procurement teams as required to ensure compliance with financial parameters.
Produce and monitor Applications/Final Accounts.
Check agreed sub-contract Applications/Accounts.
To coach and advise Assistant Quantity Surveyors to aid the development of skills in the business.
To promote company values in all dealing with other employees, clients, subcontractors and external contacts.
Candidates will have the following experience;
* Degree qualification (MRICS accredited or equivalent).
* Ability to demonstrate a proven track record in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management with significant experience in a senior role;
* Strong commercial and financial acumen.
* Previous experience working on an airfield project is desirable.
* Ability to time-manage, set priorities and work to strict deadlines
* Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products especially Excel and Word
* Strong desire to further Client relationships whilst ensuring that contractual entitlements are not compromised
* Determination to develop and coach junior members of the commercial team
* Motivation and desire to succeed
* Ability to work under pressure
* Good communication and negotiation skills
* Extensive knowledge of NEC type of contracts
