Senior Quantity Surveyor
Midlands
An exciting time for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a thriving rail contractor to oversee a large civils framework, providing excellent progression opportunities to build your own commercial team!
THE COMPANY
My client is a leading rail maintenance contractor who are part of a wider construction company operating all over the UK in various sectors, with a group turnover just shy of £1billion. Their rail division is a market specialist who have successfully won work on several civils frameworks across the UK, with a view to continue growing and to get their foot in the door with larger projects.
Due to heavy expansion, they are now looking for an established Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team from either office in Doncaster or St Albans, to oversee projects on the LNE & LNW Southern route!
ABOUT THE JOB
As an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will understand due to the nature of the role, you will be required to travel to projects. The schemes could range from £10k to £2million on the minor works framework, so a very fast-paced environment. These projects will have a civils focus, so your work will include anything from lineside civils improvements, bridge refurbishments, embankment stabilisations and everything in between!
Ideally, you’d be needing rail knowledge as their main clients are Network Rail and TOCs, however this business is incredibly supportive and so are willing to hear from anyone with civils framework experience outside of rail as well. So, if you’re looking to get a foot in to the rail industry, this may just be the chance you’re looking for!
IDEAL CANDIDATE
So, now you know what to expect, I bet you’re wondering what would make you successful in this role? As with any company, skillset is incredibly important in securing a new role and so they are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor with the ability to move into a Managing QS/Commercial Manager position given the success of the framework.
Now don’t be fooled, this progression won’t be handed to you on a silver platter – it is your responsibility to kick-start the framework successfully, and then continue to grow thereafter. Are you up for the challenge?
The most important thing with my client is culture fit – they pride themselves as a company who invest in their employees and have a low turnover of staff, and they want to keep it this way! This is a genuinely fantastic opportunity to grow and develop a career as they strive to achieve their company targets!
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
To be considered for this role, you must have experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor working on lots of small programmes of work – ideally within rail civils/construction, however if you have experience in other civil engineering sectors, I still want to hear from you!
Also, your experience will ideally be backed up with a formal qualification (HNC minimum) in a relevant commercial subject.
PACKAGE
My client is offering a basic salary up to £57k depending on your experience, plus a company car or car allowance, excellent benefits package and 26 days’ holiday.
