Senior Quantity Surveyor in Peterborough, Peterborough, Peterborough, United Kingdom

You would be working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor as part of the project commercial team.

Reporting directly to the commercial manager, you will be engrained within the project's commercial team and will be directly responsible for maximising contract entitlement, providing expert support to the relevant teams. You will also assist in the learning and development of junior/ graduate surveyors, managing the preparation of commerical events and continuously recommending proposed actions. You will be office based for this role but also will be required to travel to site, offices and other ossociated meetings from time to time.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to;

- Build a QS resource capable to meet the needs of the business. Ensure each project has sufficient commerical/ QS resource to manage commerical and contractual matters. This may include recruiting QS's, appointing interim or contract QS's to support individual contracts and mentoring other staff on how to deal with commerical or contractual issues.

- Prepare cash flow forecasts on a project by project basis.

- Working with project managers, site managers, project engineers and by carrying out site visits, have a good understanding of actual progress from site and ensure appropriate commerical records are being kept to support any variations and/or claims.

- Identify when client variations, claims, extensions of time, acceleration and prolongation claims arise. Prepare claims and present to client in a timely manner and as per the contract.

- Lead procurement and supply chain management. Cascade contractual obligations into the supply chain.

- Capture cost information and put a cost value reconcilliation (CVR) process in place on a project by project basis. Organise regular contract review meetings to address any issues affecting expected final margin.

- Put metrics in place to ensure cost and time budgets/ targets are met.

- Final account preparation and negotiation both upstream with clients and downstream with suppliers and subcontractors'.

- Evaluate projects to gather cost and time information to be used for future performance. Collate a database of cost and time information from past projects to be used in the planning and estimating costs for future projects.

- Risk identification and management.

- Onsite presence required/ practical engagement in contracts.

- Require contract form understanding on NEC3 option A contracts.

- Require rail experience, preferably with LU or TFL.

PPE Requirements - orange high-viz, blue or white hard hat, midsole protection steel toecap safety boots, safety glasses, high-viz safety trousers that meet the minimum network rail standard NR/L2/OHS/021.
