Job Summary
Aecom's Geophysics team are looking for a buried utilities surveyor, or land surveyor looking to move into buried utilities to support ongoing growth within the geophysics team. The candidate should be competent in topographical surveying and ideally be confident in use of GPR and EML techniques (though training can be provided), surveying to PAS128 standards. The candidate should be able to:
- Lead site work and perform pre site briefings.
- Import and download survey data
- Produce buried utility drawings.
- Be prepared to work at weekends and nights in support of projects and other team members.
- Ideally they should also be able to:
- Plan and optimise surveys.
- Evaluate technical aspects of surveys and resources required;
- Assist in evaluating commercial and health & safety aspects.
- Perform computerised and manual analysis and interpretation of data.
- Prepare technical reports in a variety of formats;
- Perform QA as appropriate.
- Contributes within specific domains of the field.
- Develops an awareness of standard practices, techniques, and procedures under supervision.
- Researches alternate solutions and design options in support of the project team, e.g. white paper research, code review.
- Provides analysis to support development of design ideas and solutions.
- Communicates and collaborates with full design team and others.
- Supports and assist the development of work products such as specifications, drawings, and illustrative graphics.
- Follows specific, detail instructions and set of technical approach for design.
- Develops details, edit specific and an awareness of QMS procedures.
- May support, modify and customize a senior designer or a d architect design, or a more senior-level architect in executing others’ design and vision.
- Assists in preparation of designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings and working drawings.
Minimum Requirements
- Topographical survey skills
- Experience in undertaking buried utility surveys to PAS128 standards.
- CAD (AutoCAD/Microstation) experience
- Motivated to achieve targets and a good team player.
- Conscientious, with good attention to detail.
- Keen to learn beyond that required in a normal working environment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Commercial awareness.
- Flexible and willing to travel in the UK and overseas.
- Physically fit.
- Enjoy problem solving.
- Surveying qualifications or Degree.
- Full Driving Licence
