Following the recent award of further contracts, our client, a UK leading Rail main contractor is in need of the expertise of an experienced Rail Civils Construction Manager to join and manage their successful site teams, to be based in Reading.

What you’ll be doing.

Reporting to the Senior Management team, you the Construction Manager will be accountable for the effective control and supervision of all on site works, initially in relation to Signalling Cable Recovery. You will be countable for ensuring that all work is carried out in accordance to set plans and specification, delivered in a timely fashion and focused on at the health, safety and quality of work.

As the Construction Manager for Rail Civils, you will have a strong working knowledge of Rail related civil renewals, installations and development such as Piling, bases, foundations, abutments, embankments, bridge work, etc.

It will be your responsibility to ensure that site records, WPP and task briefing are created and fit for purpose and compile daily work progress sheets and report on time, make sure that performance against production targets are monitored.

The ability to relay instructions to the workforce overseeing safety and communicate effectively at all levels is of paramount importance.

What you’ll need to know.

The successful Rail Civils Construction Manager will have previous experience working in a similar role and possess the relevant knowledge and experience to carry out required duties. You will be adept in the control and coordination of a workforce involved in Rail Programmes, be safety conscious with the ability to push output to ensure that the project achieves programme deadlines.

The Rail Civils Construction Manager will possess the following;

  • PTS and revenant construction site working competencies
  • Strong knowledge of Rail related Civils, development, renewals and maintenance work
  • Experience with working within Rail Signalling and or within Cable Recovery as a directing lead
  • Good man-management, planning and supervisory skills
  • Strong confident communicator at all levels able to competently liaise with clients and key-stake holders

You should be able to maintain and update site records, communication and relationships with clients, suppliers, contractors on site. Possess a reasonable level of IT literacy with the ability to produce basic reports and updates whenever required.
