Construction Project Planner (Rail) in London, London, United Kingdom
We are currently recruiting for a Construction Project Planner to assist Project or Programme Manager(s) to create and update programme data in compliance with the Master Projects Database (MPD) requirements. The Project Planner role is generic across a large rail focused project and as such is embedded in a variety of departments.
The Principal Accountabilities of the Construction Project Planner will be as follows:
- Create and Update Project programmes. Analyse completeness and practicality of project Budget and Cost.
- Communicate and demonstrate project planning best practice.
- Ensure timely submission of programme update information to the MPD.
- Communicate and demonstrate the importance of the required input data, coding structures and output reports of the MPD.
- Assist project team(s) with the interpretation of periodic standard MPD reports.
- Work with other Project Planners regarding common MPD issues for the purpose of resolving a common solution for all parties.
- Provide project planning support and guidance to the Managers and the respective staff of the various parties responsible for submitting data to the MPD.
The Knowledge, Skill & Experience expected of the Construction Project Planner will be as follows:
- Over 5 years experience in construction planning for main contractor on major projects.
- Planning experience in developing construction programmes from cost plans for tier 3 contractors, updating and reporting about progress on the works
- Experience with constructing shift reporting and 3 week look ahead.
- Experience in resource planning and cost reporting/forecasting under cost reimbursable framework contracts.
- Experience in stakeholders management.
- Excellent technical project planning skills with proficiency in common project planning tool sets (such as Primavera, MS Project)
- Degree in Engineering, Construction, Transportation technology or other field of practical science
- Proficient in Critical Path Method (CPM) planning and Earned Value Management techniques
- Knowledge of database development (i.e. SQL or MS Access)
- High levels of MS Office competency
- Ability to influence people at all levels across the organisation and outside, including negotiating
This role is working in the public sector and as such the contract will be set up on a PAYE or Umbrella basis only. Limited companies or PSC's will not be permitted.
