Purpose of the Job

Support the Project Construction Manager in taking responsibility for progress, cost, quality, and HSE at site level.

Principal Accountabilities

  • To be based predominately on site, often covering out of core hours working.
  • When there is weekend working the superintendent will be expected to cover some night shifts.
  • Required to work core hours to be agreed locally depending on balance outstanding and the candidate requirements.
  • Monitors, records and reports site progress, incidents, delays, resources and influences on progress e.g. weather.
  • Monitors and records quality and HS&E issues on site.
  • Keeps Construction Managers and Site Managers informed of site progress and performance recording inefficient working, standing plant etc. with a view on possible disallowed costs.
  • Completes Daily Site Reports for Site Managers review.
  • Keeps Project Field Engineers and Field Engineers informed of site quality performance.
  • Supports the Site Managers and the Contract Administrators with the as built programme.
  • Reviews works against contractor construction and quality documents.
  • Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected in the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working to the Clients Target Zero principles.
  • Cooperate with the Client in all matters relating to health and safety, including following safe working procedures at all times.

Person Specification

  • Previous experience in heavy civils, rail, urban sites, M&E, LU/NR interface projects.
  • IT literate including MS Office Word and Outlook.
  • Reliability and prepared to work out of core hours (core hours are Monday to Friday 08:00-18:00, and Saturday 08:00-13:00).
  • Knowledge and experience of site-based ES&H and quality processes and procedures.
