The role – Engineering Technical Manager Track

We are currently seeking an Engineering Technical Manager (Track) to work in the Nexus Maintenance Delivery Department based at Nexus Rail HQ, Gosforth.

Assist in planning the safe management and Inspection of Nexus track (on and off) assets to ensure compliance with the performance specification with Nexus/client. Ensure performance and quality standards are met by providing a reliable and cost effective service against requirements.

The role will have wide-ranging responsibility for managing Infrastructure compliance through a range of monitoring, assessment and measuring techniques, standards of inspection and maintenance for approximately 56 route km of P-Way. In doing so, you will be proficient in, and have experience of computer-based maintenance management systems. You will be expected to undertake, procure and approve minor design and maintenance work for track installations and modifications, as well as providing technical direction and guidance to the Track Engineering teams through site-orientated activities within planning timescales.

The person

  • The successful applicant will have a relevant Level 4 Qualification (UK), or equivalent in an Engineering subject, combined with demonstrable experience of working in a substantive technical capacity within Permanent Way.
  • A working knowledge of process control, Railway Group Standards, Rail Industry Standards and other track engineering and safety standards are essential. Ideally, you will hold, or be prepared to work towards Incorporated Engineer status.
  • Good written, oral, IT, communications skills and the ability to plan ahead and organise your own workload are essential. There will be a requirement to deputise for the Engineering Manager Track, plus undertake ‘on call’ duties.
  • Applicants must hold a full current UK driving licence.
