Track Technical Manager in Newcastle, North East, United Kingdom
Ford & Stanley – The Rail Recruitment Experts are working with a light rail operator in the North East of England who are currently going through a £350m change modernisation programme. Part of the upgrade programme spans across the track network and therefore further investment into this specialist team is required.
The main purpose of the role is to assist in planning the safe management and inspection of our clients track assets to ensure compliance with the performance specifications and to ensure performance and quality standards are met by providing a reliable and cost-effective service against requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide assurance to the Engineering Manager by analysing, prioritising, measuring and monitoring asset condition and standards of workmanship to ensure that inspection and maintenance standards are being met and outputs achieved.
- Liaison with internal departments and other stakeholders regarding planning, delivery and acceptance of new assets.
- Provide technical assistance and support to other departments and other stakeholders in planning, managing and implementing renewal and replacement works and to assist whenever reasonably practicable to ensure that projects are delivered.
- Developing maintenance and inspection plans for Maintenance Delivery maintained assets.
- Assist Principal Engineer in preparing capital budgets for maintenance and improvement of assets, supported by engineering justification data.
- Monitoring recorded faults, investigating as necessary and taking action to reduce or prevent further occurrences and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Ensuring that all work is carried out safely and efficiently and supporting the compilation of associated Health and Safety documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
- As a minimum, the successful applicant will have a Level 4 Qualification, in an Engineering subject, or have appropriate demonstrable vocational experience.
- Extensive knowledge of the Permanent Way with reference to technical advancements, safety regulations, Railway Group Standards and Rail Industry Company Standards.
- Ability to make decisions and use initiative
- Good knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
- Demonstrable experience of working in a substantive technical capacity within Permanent Way (or industry equivalent department)
- Demonstrable experience in monitoring and auditing records
