CAD Engineer - Transport and Rail in London, London, United Kingdom

We are looking for somebody who has a deep understanding of Bentley Microstation and ProjectWise who can work in both 2D and 3D as well as model from point cloud data.

The individual would ideally come from a Railway/Land Survey background.

Purpose:

The scope of Digital Engineering (DE) within TfL encompasses a range of activities all of which are designed to exploit the use of engineering information technology and to drive the business forward using intelligent and connected data. This will be brought together within a Digital Engineering strategy for the business and aligned to an overall Digital strategy for TfL.

There will be a particular focus on defining, establishing, integrating, analysing and maintaining the Engineering Information required to manage TfL's assets throughout the asset lifecycle. The DE function embraces all roles that work in the engineering information space, for instance, Building Information Modelling (BIM), Computer Aided Design (CAD), Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and the capture and analysis of Survey and Asset Condition data. These roles will require skilled specialists in their field.

The DE function will be the design authority for the integrated information systems and will include the business change activities required to deliver the integration and 'digitisation' of information management processes across TfL, as described in the Digital Engineering strategy.

Digital Engineering tools will enable the capture and manipulation of the data in the virtual environment, to inform a whole range of asset management and operational decisions. DE will make use of good quality, reliable digital asset information to make effective asset management decisions.

Knowledge:

Record of continuing professional development
Good understanding of at least one of the related DE tools or methodologies in
engineering
Awareness of developments in DE tools and methodologies such as BIM, CAD, GIS,
asset information systems and industry best practices.
Awareness of relevant TfL, British and International standards
Awareness of the TfL business, its obligations and priorities
Awareness of engineering safety management and its application within TfL

Skills:

Ability to represent TfL's interests with external parties with regard to Digital Engineering
e.g. standards bodies and working groups, regulators, software/hardware vendors, supply chain
High level of integrity
Highly developed ability to act on own initiative
Highly motivated, with a real passion for personal development

Experience:

Experience at least one of the related DE tools or methodologies and its practical application to high value programmes

Experience of personal responsibility for providing professional engineering support to major/ projects and maintenance organisation(s), where there are complex interfaces
