Location: Projects around the London area, M25 and as a far as Birmingham.
The Engineering Manager will be responsible for:
- Managing and co-ordinating the permanent and temporary works designs for live projects and tenders.
- Managing and co-ordinating the design process, with a focus on buildability and efficiency, to ensure the optimum solution is arrived at.
- Liaising with client, third parties, stakeholders, TOCs / FOCs and Network Rail as required to gain approval of design.
- Fulfil the role of Contractor's Engineering Manager (CEM) or Contractor's Responsible Engineer (CRE) in accordance with Network Rail's procedures.
- Ensure Principal Designer duties are fulfilled for pre-construction operations under the CDM Regulations.
- Liaising with tender and project teams to ensure design is developed in line with expectations.
- Ensuring a design programme is prepared and agreed with each designer.
- Ensuring the design programme is incorporated into the main programme.
- Meeting with designers on a regular basis to ensure the design is developing as planned.
- Monitoring progress of the design and works and updating the programme as necessary.
- Ensuring the design is managed in accordance with the relevant quality procedures.
- Providing design input as required for tender submissions.
- Liaising with clients, designers, subcontractors, suppliers and third parties to input into the design as appropriate
- Providing technical input and advice as required for live projects and tenders.
- Raising Technical Queries / Requests for Information where necessary.
- Managing the flow of information from the design team and advising the project team of any impact on progress and programme.
- Providing necessary information to the Procurement Department to enable the procurement of materials and subcontractors.
- Providing input to handover documents.
- Introducing improvements and innovations where appropriate.
- Liaising with the Commercial and Project Management teams on commercial aspects relevant to the role as required.
