Following the recent award of a new multi-million £ contract our client, a renowned leading UK Rail engineering development organisation is in need of an experienced, knowledgeable, analytical, committed and focused Rail related Project Engineer. Someone who fully understands design to delivery and the best methods of, as well as having a good grasp with regards to Assurance and Risk processes and effective Stakeholder management and interface for large scale UK Rail multi-discipline deliveries.

Our client see this Project Engineer s position being suitable for either a Chartered or working toward Chartership Project Engineer or Scheme Project Manager from a design to construction delivery / co-ordination background. Our client is not looking for this Project Engineer to be physically doing designs or reviewing designs, this role more leans towards the actual management of Engineering Assurance, large-scale and diverse Interface management and co-ordination with a Risk based approach leading to credible roll-out for construction of the programme.

Role & Responsibilities:

To offer technical advice to varied project teams where applicable to help ensure required project deliverables are met as well as the technical standards and also that they are credible in terms of quality against the requirements, this will also include time and budget constraints.

You will need to ensure that the contractors involved are all working in-line with company and industry standards and procedures and that each delivery / milestone with regards to the specification is all fully compliance

As the Project Engineer you will conduct varied design reviews and reviews of quality plans, with your finding you will be expected to compile reports and present finding to the Senior Project Engineering teams.

You will be point of contact to advise the contractors on content of method statements and give guidance on engineering standards, offer remedial suggestions looking at Risk and Reliability issues

Reporting to the programmes Senior Engineering Management team, you the Project Engineer will be accountable for the effective control and supervision of all related design to delivery processes, ensuring that all work is carried out to be delivered safely and to time constraints and to client and company specification.

As the Project Engineer, you will have a strong working appreciation of P-Way and related Rail Civils development design to delivery processes and have a thorough understanding of related disciplines and interfaces, i.e. Stations, Structures, Signalling, Drainage, M&E and Comms.





Requirements:


You will be Chartered Engineer or working towards your Chartership and would have already have worked in this capacity working on large scale Rail Engineering and development programmes.

To possess good working and scalable knowledge of UK Rail mainline infrastructure development, the NWR GRIP processes, CDM Regulation and UK Rail Standards for delivery

Strong working experience within the effective management and co-ordination of credible Rail related designs, operating within a delivery management and controls remit and or design remit

The proven ability to competently and effectively manage sub-contractors, internal and external design engineers and design houses, Clients and Key stakeholders effectively alike

Being the Project Engineer within this role, you will have the ability to overcome objections, negotiate effectively and offer strategic advice and suggestions for the benefit of the Clients, Key Stakeholders, the company and the project delivery as a whole

Good man-management, planning, cost management appreciation, design and with strong CDM regulation appreciation

You will be Degree qualified or equivalent and possess a good level of IT literacy with the ability to produce basic reports and updates whenever required and will be confident and competent with communicating and presenting to teams at all levels.
