The Opportunity
The Safety Business Partner is responsible for providing advice and developing and promoting a culture of safety and wellbeing across the Operational business, supporting our front line staff through the creation of specific programs, policies and practices. You will also be providing operational support and advice to managers and staff, the Safety Business Partner will also ensure compliance and adherence to current legislation and maintain necessary certifications.

Role and Responsibilities:
- To support Operational and Safety Critical teams with risk Assessment, risk management, process development and review (Plan Do Check Act)
- Supporting Managers with Fatigue monitoring and Management
- Undertake audits and inspections in line with the Auditor
- Operations Visual Felt Leadership support
- Report writing and presentation
- Incident investigation and reporting
- Benchmarking and calculated innovation with the objective of minimising risk, improving safety and ensuring we work towards being the safest and the best
- Data analysis and management
- Audit management
- To promote accident/incident reporting and investigation, ensuring investigations are completed to a sufficient and satisfactory standard and lessons learned are briefed.
- Collect and interpret data to monitor environmental performance including the identification and adherence of Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
- To work with all managers to ensure staff are prepared for emergency situations; assist and participate in emergency exercises in order to test the safety procedures.
- reduction of timely appropriate and relevant management reports as requested by the Director of Safety.
- Maintain effective communication with internal staff, departments and TfGM and provide operational and practical support to create effective relationships to manage and motivate others.
- Administer the systems for capturing information from health, safety and environmental accidents and incidents, coordinating investigations, analysing results and producing useful management information statistics and trend analysis.
- Completion of statutory reports in a timely manner (RIDDOR, RAIB).
- To undertake and assist with safety assessments (e.g. workplace risk assessments, noise, vibration, manual handling) to ensure that the company is compliant with current legislation.
- Maintain the COSHH database to ensure compliance with legislation

Essentials
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent
- NEBOSH/IOSH
- Experience in Safety management in a light rail, rail or transportation environment preferable
- Supporting culture change & implementation of improvement programmes
- Strong problem solving and analysis skills
- Have a working knowledge of relevant HSE legislation and standards
