Network Operations Manager

Key Responsibilities

The Network Operations Manager is responsible for the management of day-to-day network operations which includes, but is not limited to, the following activities: ensuring compliance with safety regulations, incident investigation and coordination, monitoring infrastructure asset utilisation, passenger station and intermodal terminal management, continuous improvement, documentation of network operations, monitoring, evaluating and reporting of network operations performance, development of training requirements and materials, etc..

Key Competencies

Essential:

• Minimum 10 years relevant experience;
• Experience in front line operational management in rail industry;
• Leading the safe delivery of the daily train plan both during normal running and disruptive events;
• Provision of strategic control in the event of a major incident or severe disruption to the service;
• Management of safety of the line incidents in accordance with safety standards and statutory requirements;
• Provide safety, performance and management reporting information at required frequencies;
• Manage the development and application of appropriate contingency plans in times of disruption, to minimise delays and cancellations;
• Leading incident reviews and monitor and review the implementation of recommendations and the effect on future performance;
• Integrate the control process, to develop more effective approaches to management of the train plan, incidents and provision of customer information;
• Develop up to date operational and safety policies and procedures, relating to train service delivery, control of operations and control personnel; and
• Manage the integrity of sensitive operational and security documentation.

Desirable:

• Degree qualification;
• Membership of a professional body; and
• Qualified Rail Incident Officer (RIO) and Rail Incident Commander (RIC).
