Samuel Knight's esteemed client are recruiting an Operations Manager to oversee their office in the South East of England, ensuring its' successful running and growth in the years ahead.
Main Accountabilities of the role:
- Maintain and develop surveyor headcount to achieve planned revenue.
- Develop relationships with current and prospective clients in line with strategy.
- Assist & develop the skillsets of numerous direct-reports including project management team.
Duties and Responsibilities
Operations
- Checking the resource planner and working with PM’s to ensure targeted revenue is achieved each month
- Working with Project Managers to identify current and potential operational issues and find resolutions
- Carrying out site visits and checks on office processing work, to ensure that company policies and procedures are being adhered to, and acting appropriately upon instances where policies and procedures are not being followed
- Assisting Project Manager and the Quality Manager with customer complaints, investigations, technical queries
- Liaising with the Purchasing and Stores Manager regarding Asset Tiger (Equipment Tracking System) anomalies, equipment requirements and finding resolutions to equipment, repairs and maintenance issues
- Liaising with the Fleet Administrator regarding fleet issues and requirements
- Identifying suitable subcontractors; meeting with them to establish terms and conditions and assessing their suitability as ‘preferred suppliers’
People Management
- Supporting and empowering Project Management team
- Assisting Project Managers in resolving any issues with team members
- Overseeing recruitment activities, in order to ensure a consistent and fair approach
Strategy and Business Planning
- Building a yearly ‘Annual Operating Plan’/Financial Budget for the office.
Quality and Training
In line with the strategic business plan:
- Working with Quality and Training Manager to improve current processes and practices
- Working with Project Managers, to ensure suitable development plans are in place for all surveyors and that development areas are being addressed
Business Development
- Creating and maintaining close relationships with key customers
- Gathering market intelligence and information from new and existing customers, identifying growth or development areas
- Identifying opportunities to present our services and/or expertise to potential and new customers and organising such events
- Completing PQQ’s and tenders on large scales surveys and frameworks
- Coordinating PM time in order to ensure quotations are completed by deadlines, chased and converted into sales
- Reviewing quotes, ensuring that they are as cost effective and competitive as possible, without underquoting jobs
- Visiting customers, or encouraging PM’s to visit customers in order to deliver and explain large or more complex quotations
Financials
- Manage the monthly AOP, highlighting any issues in hitting the plan
- Completing weekly flash forecasts, highlighting issues in hitting the AOP targets and identifying actions to hit target where possible
- Assisting Project Managers with any invoice issues
