Rail Depot Operations Engineer - Asset Management & Maintenance Services

Job Description
SNC-Lavalin delivers railway vehicle fleet maintenance and depot solutions to operators, owners and manufacturers. Clients benefit from our extensive experience in specifying, developing and refining fleet maintenance strategies and creating innovative depot and facility solutions.

Our experts have a deep understanding of Rail assets, systems and technologies, fleet maintenance strategies and approaches, and the logistics and processes required to deliver optimal fleet maintenance activities.

Reporting to the AMMS Team Leader, the successful candidate will be largely responsible for the provision of consultancy services to our existing client base; principally train operators, rolling stock owners and train manufacturers. The bulk of the work will be focused on Depot Capacity Modelling for both existing depots and new build.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Depot layout development and review
• Optimsation of depot operational practices and procedures
• Depot capacity modelling and analysis
• Maintenance life-cycle cost modelling
• Devising new or revised maintenance and overhaul regimes
• Deferring or extending maintenance and overhaul intervals.
• Reducing maintenance and overhaul costs
• Review of maintenance plans for compliance in relation to gaining regulatory approvals
• Vehicle maintenance due diligence
• Providing support to colleagues relating to technical maintenance products and services, in particular in areas of rail vehicle systems and maintenance.

Required Skills and Experience

• First-hand experience of Depot Operations at a supervisory level – note; previous consulting experience is not essential for this role.
• Understanding of the Railway Industry and Operations as a whole.
• High level of technical competency as a Technician or equivalent for Rail Vehicles.
• Educated to HNC level or equivalent.
• Ability to assess risks and how they can be managed.
• High level of competency in using Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication skills, and in particular the ability to write with clear and concise text
