Purpose:
Provide professional engineering and/or leadership for Railway Rolling Stock Assets.
Responsible for implementing a risk based engineering approach through all lifecycle
phases i.e. Specification, Design, Installation/Testing, Maintenance and Decommissioning /
Disposal. Root cause analysis, Failure trends
Engineer (Band 3)
Knowledge:
Record of continuing professional development
Basic understanding of Rolling Stock engineering
Basic level of commercial awareness of developments in Rolling Stock products,
process's and assurance best practices.
Basic knowledge of relevant LU, British and International standards
Basic working knowledge of the LU business, its obligations and priorities
Basic knowledge of engineering safety management and its application within the railway
environment
Skills:
Ability to represent LUs interests with external parties e.g. railways, standards bodies,
regulators
High level of integrity
Highly developed ability to act on own initiative
Highly motivated, with a real passion for personal development
Experience:
Experience of Rolling Stock engineering and its practical application to high value
programmes
Experience of personal responsibility for providing professional engineering support to
major/ projects and maintenance organisation(s), where there are complex interfaces
