Job Title: Mechanic / Vehicle Modifications (Permanent with Progression)
Location: Rippon / Harrogate
Salary: £25kpa / £12 an hour - Internally training available with progression path to Maintainer / Operator Circa £30kpa / £19 an hour
Hours: 8am- 4:30pm
Benefits: 23 holidays + bank holidays
Job Description:
Working in a specialist manufacturer and maintainer of rail vehicles you will be a very confident mechanic or mechanical fitter who has an interest in heavy vehicle engineering and specialist mods.
Initially you will learn about the company and vehicles within the production environment building, repairing and modifying rail road vehicles. After success in this area you will be supported to undertake rail specific qualifications to allow you to progress into maintenance based work on site with clients responding to repairs for operational fleet. The eventual aim if you take this route would be to become qualified as a maintainer / operator and be able to work both onsite in the production facility and trackside servicing clients.
Education:
* Must have a minimum of NVQ level 3 within a relevant engineering discipline with significant mechanical engineering elements.
* Previous rail work or holding any rail / trackside tickets is greatly advantageous
* Any fabrication skill sets such as sheet metal work would be advantageous
* Ideal backgrounds would be within heavy vehicle maintenance, HGV fitters, plant fitters, master technician or higher (automotive), rolling stock fitting, PSV fitting.
