Samuel Knight Rail are pleased to be recruiting for a Vehicle Engineer for our Rolling Stock client, one of the largest Engineering companies in the world. Based in either Derby or London, you will be working on exciting state-of-the-art projects including local networks based in the UK.

This opportunity stands out for candidates who have a background in Rolling Stock manufacturing; either in design or upgrade of rolling stock. Although this is principally an overhaul of in-cab systems, there will be opportunities to become involved with procurement.

As a state-of-the-art project , you will be working on the future of British rail rolling stock - electric and low emission trains. Our clients company culture is to work closely with their customers and at times shape the direction of their projects for the better - it is a rare opportunity to develop multi-disiciplined experience of working on customer and client side of projects.

The successful candidate will likely be working for a design house or rolling stock manufacturer, and will bring a solid base of engineering knowledge in the areas of design & build of rolling stock. As a personaility, you will be career driven and ambitious to experience new environments - potentially working abroad on our clients international portfolio.

As a minimum, our client will be looking for these attributes:

• Engineering degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering
• At least 3 years experience in Rail vehicle engineering
• Excellent communicator and competent in customer meetings when necessary
• Demonstratable experience in delivering projects to quality, budger and time

In addition to the above, we will also be seeking candidates with an expertise in at least one of the below areas:

• Rail Rolling Stock systems
• Dynamics, Internal Systems (Wifi, temperature), Brakes, Gauging, Acoustics
• Structural integrity
