The role – Engineer (Signalling)
Based at Nexus Rail Headquarters in Gosforth, Newcastle, the Engineer (Signalling) will
report to the Principal Engineer (Signalling) and work on a wide variety of projects
associated with the delivery of the on-going Nexus capital programme and the introduction
of our new fleet. You will be able to communicate effectively and be able to make
autonomous decisions and support your outcomes. Standard commercial software skills are
essential. A flexible approach to work is required, including “on call” duties and occasional
nightshift.
The person
The successful applicant will hold a relevant higher level educational qualification and have
demonstrable experience in a railway signalling environment including the delivery of capital
projects, renewals and refurbishments. Ability to assess the condition of signalling system
assets is essential.
You will be able to communicate effectively, have excellent organisational skills and be able
to make autonomous decisions and support your outcomes. Standard commercial software
skills and a current full driving licence are essential.
Working within the wider Engineering department you will be a team player and be able to
bring a signalling perspective to projects from other disciplines.
The ideal candidate will hold Incorporated Engineer status and membership of the IRSE (or
working towards).

assessments. If offered a position with Nexus, we will provide a conditional offer subject to

references and evidence of relevant qualifications.
