Position Principal Signalling Engineer
Location York
My client has won several major projects and are one of the major framework suppliers for Network Rail.
Fission are currently looking for a Principal Signalling Engineer (Design CRE/ RDE) to join an extensive team and work on delivering some of the most challenging and interesting projects within the UK rail market.
This role is a key senior member of the signalling design team, supporting the organization in the technical delivery of outline and detailed signalling design to all relevant standards and to time and budget.
Requirements
- Able to carry out Safety Critical Work
- UK Signalling Principle Design Engineer skills including knowledge of standards, procedures and CAD
- Extensive senior level experience of UK signalling design at outline design (NR GRIP3 to 4) and detailed design (NR GRIP5+) level
- Previous experience of RDE/CRE (signalling design) responsibilities on a range of projects/ technologies.
- IRSE Signalling Verifier Licence licences (1.1.160)
- IRSE Signalling Principles license (1.1.550)
- Qualification(s) in Electrical Engineering or similar
- Passed IRSE Examination (desirable)
- IRSE workplace assessor or working towards assessor qualifications
- Chartered Engineer or working towards (desirable)
- Fit and able to work trackside / hold PTS
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with team members located in different offices including excellent standard of English for written communications
- Ability to communicate complex technical information to people without detailed knowledge of railway signalling systems
- Ability to manage time efficiently and prioritise duties
Responsibilities
- Fulfil role of Design CRE/RDE and provide technical assurance for design on projects where we are engaged in the preparation, production and verification of railway signalling designs, specifications, reports and working drawings, ensuring compliance with all contractual and statutory requirements
- Attending meetings and technical liaison with colleagues, clients and contractors
- Leading and supporting tenders as required
- Line management of staff as required
- Mentoring, support, guidance and development of all staff
- Undertaking design office cover during commissioning's, including bank holidays and weekends
