Salary: £60-£70k basic DOE; Total Package Circa £70-80k
We are looking for a technical engineer within signalling to take up a permanent position with a leading rail company. This position offers an excellent salary, benefits and career progression.
The role sits at a Managerial level with direct reports within asset performance and technical engineering with final engineering assurance responsibility.
This position will predominantly be office based managing asset performance, maintenance & improvement. You will work standard office hours, but you may be required occasionally to attend site visits when escalated so must pass a rail standard medical and drugs & alcohol tests.
This role has operational responsibility for live signalling systems so it is essential that you have worked within an operational / live rail environment previously. For example you would need to be comfortable managing the safety of planned work or upgrades within vital systems, approving plans for posessions or sites works ensuring releavant operational and safety concerns are dealt with and responding to signalling failures in service - for example safely managing the response to wrong side failures etc.
Key Responsibilities
*Ensure the efficient management of the Signal Engineering Team. Providing directions, assurance and support as needed.
*Acting as the Lead Engineer working on any engineering requirements within signalling system assets.
*Influencing financial decisions in relation to project and / or maintenance expenditure.
Person Profile
Essential
*HNC in a relevant Engineering discipline.
*Associate or currently undertaking examinations for IRSE membership.
*Previous experience within Rail Signal Engineering within a technical office based role.
Desirable
*MSc/BSc Electrical Engineering or Signalling Systems
*Member / Fellow of IRSE or IRSE License at Engineering Management Level.
*5 + years' experience in signalling.
*Have worked previously within Signalling Maintenance or Maintenance Projects.
*Previous People Management experience.
*Ambition to progress long term within General Management / Asset Management.
*Pragmatic & Analytically Minded and able to work independently of direction.
*Able to set and monitor workloads of others.
*PTS, Sentinel or relevant track safety cards / training (non-essential as full training course will be provided).
