Job Title: Signalling Engineer
Type: 6 Month contract minimum
Samuel Knight are very excited to be recruiting for a Signalling Engineer. We are looking for a candidate who can ensure that the current Asset is maintained and that it operates at optimum and economic levels, always compliant with the required legislative industry and all other relevant standards.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Assess the current condition of the asset.
- Develop and maintain a set of maintenance, renewal repair specifications to ensure compliance with all relevant legislative and industry standards ensuring the most economic life cycle cost of the asset base.
- Lead in undertaking audits/ inspections and other similar activities aimed at evaluating compliance of the delivery units against standards and specifications.
- Provide technical professional advice to internal and external stakeholders
- Where applicable lead the relevant engineering resource that is under your direct control or procured externally
- Responsible for managing those elements of the safety management system allocated to the Engineering Department and specifically to the role of Engineer for the safe operation of Nexus and associated projects.
- In conjunction with the Health & Safety Department, identify the Health & Safety elements within the required specifications.
- To provide technical solutions and information on engineering problems to ensure the specifications are complied with
- Verbal and written communication with all levels of internal stakeholders to ensure specifications are met and understood
- To interpret technical data and contractual information to ensure all key audiences understand the relevant issues
- Identify the specifications that you are working to and where necessary make decisions to reflect any changes and/or amendments.
- Independently determine the maintenance, renewal repair specifications within the relevant discipline
- Design & trial new systems and equipment.
Experience :
- Demonstrable engineering experience working in the railway signalling industry.
- Knowledge of the railway industry with particular reference to technical advancements in signalling, safety regulations, Railway Group Standards and general industry standards.
- Knowledge and experience of Health & Safety Legislation
- Ability to make decisions and use initiative.
- IT literate in Microsoft Office and general software, including the ability to create spreadsheets and format documents.
- Experience in the production, checking and management of signalling circuit diagrams
- Experience of producing standards and procedures
Education (Desirable) :
·Membership of the IRSE or working towards
·Incorporated Engineer status or similar or working towards
·Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship.
·IT literate in Linux software
