AECOM is the world's premier infrastructure consultancy and we work on multi billion pound projects all over the globe. Recently we have acquired a vast array of rail work from multiple successful bids. Our rail business in now growing considerably and we are searching for a Signalling Design Verifier to join us here at AECOM in the York office although we can be flexible on location.

As a Signalling Design Verifier you will work on complex signalling design projects which will include signalling design and interlocking principles, Network Rail standards, components and fabrication methods.

As design verifier, you will be leading a signalling application engineering team to deliver design details to time, safety and specification. You will be responsible for the verification and validation of detailed design drawings and liaising with the design manager to set up programmes and objectives, whilst interfacing with the client as well as the testing and installation departments.

Previous Experience

Hands-on experience managing the production, checking and approval of feasibility, outline and detailed signalling principles design and calculations

Familiarity with RRI, mechanical and SSI systems (although 2 out of 3 may be acceptable)

Knowledge of railway systems and related operating practices, along with their key interactions with other railway assets

Serves as lead engineer on mid- to large size projects.

Provides specialised technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.

Provides technical expertise for studies and design efforts.

Presents complex technical solutions to clients.

Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others.

Participates in development of technical proposals.

Provides mentorship for Junior designers.


To be successful in this role we're looking for Candidates who can demonstrate proficiency in signal verifying roles

You will have a relevant university or college qualification and ideally have your Membership for IRSE
