I am seeking a Signalling Principle Designer to join a signalling consultancy based in Birmingham.. This is a small consultancy that employs only signalling designers of principle level upwards. This is a permanent position and would be suitable for someone working for a large consultancy, but who feels that they are not getting very much responsibility in a large group of designers.

Responsibilities:
- Produce detailed principles signalling design
- Provide technical guidance for the production of detailed signalling design
- Produce and check signalling design details, ensuring that they adhere to Network Rail standards
- Responsible for the preparation or final review of the outline project and design specifications
- Assisting with planning, project programmes and time and resources estimates
- Preparing and reviewing feasibility reports and presenting these to the client
- Assisting with reviewing progress of younger staff
- Representing the company at client meetings
- Acting as a signalling project engineer for some projects where required.
- IRSE Signalling Principles Designer Licence category 1.1.550
- Associate member of the Institute of Railway Signalling Engineers (IRSE)
- Knowledge of signalling design, signalling principles and UK mainline signalling principles and technologies
- Degree/HND/HNC in relevant engineering subject
- Substantial experience of production of outline and details signalling designs and calculations
- Familiar with use of signalling software packages
- Good knowledge of RRI, Mechanical and SSI systems
