Main purpose of Job:
To provide effective day to day line management of staff within the Signalling Software and Systems team ensuring that individuals within the team remain highly motivated and flexible to meet the demands of the business. Accepting responsibility for all aspects of staff management including, but not limited to, personal development and objective setting, staff briefings, competency development and maintenance, allocation of staff to projects and rotation between projects and activities to maintain competencies. Ensure on time and on budget delivery of Smartlock configuration and testing activities into projects through liaison with project engineers and planning staff. Work alongside the Signalling Software and Systems Technical Manager to ensure the quality of the deliverables. Be accountable for capturing requirements for new tools and processes, the production of specifications, the testing and roll out into the wider business of new tools and processes and their ongoing support. Work with HR to ensure a proactive approach to skills transfer, staff development, succession planning and training is implemented. Deputise for the Signalling Software and Systems Manager when required.
Key Result Areas
-Day to day line management of Signalling Software and Systems team members.
-Interface with projects to capture their requirements, allocate staff with appropriate competencies and liaise with projects to manage change.
-Capture requirements and prepare detailed specifications for new tools and processes within the Signalling Operational Engineering group.
-Lead the roll out and ongoing support of tools and processes within the Signalling Operational Engineering group.
-Support project delivery activities as necessary to meet the programme delivery timescales.
-Liaise with Engineers and Planners to develop accurate delivery programmes.
-Identify learning and development strategies and coordinate objectives with Engineers and HR overseeing the technical development of the teams
-Support Alstom business development and tendering activities.
-Support the Competence Manager in the execution of the IRSE licensing scheme.
-Ensure effective interface management between data stakeholders and all associated company, client and 3rd party project disciplines.
-Define learning and development strategies in line with technology transfer strategy and succession planning and coordinate personal reviews.

-Mentoring, training and development of staff
