There is a need to find a Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) reporting to the Lead CRE responsible for the Steelwork activities within the Heritage Façade, Finishes and Fit-Out team. The CRE responsibilities include the overall responsibility and accountability of the safety of the individuals affected by the activities carried out under the steelwork activities.

Heavy civil engineering includes demolition of brick arches, extensive piling, steelwork erection, new platforms and a complete station fit-out of all services and finishes. Now in the final year the project team is working to deliver the northern concourse and the urban realm area

The CRE will work alongside the Agents within the team and work towards the successful delivery of the works. The candidate will be required to manage the Temporary Works process within their team and work alongside permanent works designers and the client to review design details for buildability.

The CRE will have overall responsibility of the Quality Assurance documentation in line with the requirements for their packages as well as ensuring that the subcontractors have the required documentation to start work in line with the timescales required by the project.

The candidate should have proven experience in managing construction teams and reviewing and approving safe system of work documentation.

• At least 5 years' experience in Civil Engineering/Construction.
• Professionally qualified to chartered status (desirable).
• Eagerness to learn and administer the controls required for working in a live station environment and alongside a live railway.
• Previous experience in managing Temporary Works processes (TWC/TWS).
• Experience working with Structural Steelwork.
• Experience in managing quality systems and delivering assurance documentation.
• Eagerness to take on responsibility and commitment to ensuring the safety of the individuals affected by construction activities.
• Rail experience would be desirable however not necessary.
