Role Overview and objectives
The SCL Surveyor is responsible for the supervision of all surveying and monitoring activities on site for SCL works. The role requires accurate recording and reporting of survey data on site as well as mentoring and staff development.

Ensure that surveying is carried out with the highest regard to the health and safety of all involved.
Environment:
Ensure that surveying is carried out with the highest regard to the protection of the environment.
Quality:
Ensure the instructed methods of surveying and monitoring as defined in the method statements and procedures are adopted. Ensure that all Data acquisition is processed and analysed correctly with final results recorded for future use
Engineering/Planning
Ensure the works are carried out in accordance with the design.
Client/Communication
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal. Able to communicate/report at site and Client level
Commercial
Commercial awareness of surveying equipment costs. Able to plan works cost effectively.
Accountabilities
· Manage, supervise and instruct survey related personnel to ensure quality, timely and safe work practices
· Checking and/or setting up the horizontal and vertical control for use during construction.
- Help maintain the control for the duration of the project, and establish new control as and when required
- Establish a relationship with the site construction teams and provide advice and technical support on all survey and setting out matters
- Install and observe control points for the construction of major structures
- Support shift engineer in their setting out duties and for SCL works support for profile control.
- Alignment and profile creation using Amberg desktop tunnelling software.
- Preparation and installation of Instrument Profile control system to facilitate excavation and sprayed lining control.
- Establish monitoring schemes and set up the appropriate observation regime.
- Carry out survey of In-tunnel monitoring, computations and graphical presentation of data.
- Ensure that all equipment used by their team is in calibration and checked according to the appropriate procedure
· Ensure safe execution of the work at all times
· Manage surveying productivity on the site
· Ensure the instructed methods of surveying and monitoring as defined in the method statements and procedures are adopted
· Ensure best safe practices during all survey based operations, particularly in the shafts and around the site, liaise with the site based construction and safety staff.
· Maintain records of all monitoring activities on site (including personnel attendances, equipment problems, safety issues and improvements)
· Ensure that all Data acquisition is processed and analysed correctly with final results recorded for RESS meetings (Amberg reporting)
· Ensure that surveying is carried out with the highest regard to the health and safety of all involved and to the protection of the environment.

Experience & Knowledge
Details of experience and knowledge:
· Experience in SCL tunnelling for recognised tunnelling companies.
· The role will require the post holder to have excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal and to be able to communicate at site level.
· Enthusiasm and have good communication skills.
· Demonstrate a meticulous and highly accurate approach to work.
· Excellent Computer skills (Amberg, StarNet)
· Excellent Cad Skills (AutoCAD, Microstation)
· Demonstrate a meticulous and highly accurate approach to work.
Qualifications & Skills
General Skills and Qualifications:

Specific Qualifications:
Ideally the post holder will be educated to Degree/HND Level in a relevant discipline, typically Geomatics, Civil Engineering.
