Senior Site Engineer (OHLE Rail) in London, London, United Kingdom
My Client is responsible for delivering one of the UK'S largest infrastructure projects and with the project moving closer to completion they are now looking for an experienced Senior Site Engineer to support the Employer in relation to the monitoring of Overhead Line Equipment jobsite activities by the contractor and its' subcontractors, the coordination of interfaces; and the overseeing of progress and productivity of the works.
Principal Accountabilities
- Overseeing OHLE construction activities within the area of responsibility.
- Monitoring programme objectives and contractor progress and performance against the contract milestones and current accepted programme; reviewing productivity of installed quantities against forecasts.
- Monitoring the OHLE works programme and liaising with the contractor to seek notice of activities and interventions. Attend the contractor monthly, weekly and daily meetings as required.
- Providing reports of daily activity; keeping the Traction Power & OHLE Construction Manager informed of contract and site progress & performance.
- Supporting the Project Manager and the Traction Power & OHLE Construction Manager in key stakeholder relationships in coordination with the contractor and community relations officers; if required monitoring contractor's activity in community relations.
- Monitoring and supporting the contractor's compliance with Environmental, Safety & Health requirements, escalating issues and seeking intervention where required. Checking there is a satisfactory level of health and safety through taking reasonable care of own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected in the day-to-day delivery of this role
- Supporting interfaces between the assigned principle contractor and other adjacent or follow-on contracts on site.
- Supporting the Traction Power & OHLE Construction Manager in preparing communications and instructions to contractors in accordance with the Works Contracts Administration Procedures.
- Monitoring contractors' mobilisation and logistics.
- Providing, through the Traction Power & OHLE Construction Manager, support to the Project Field Engineer in monitoring Contractor compliance with the Construction Quality Plan, and in resolution of NCRs and Snag List items at contract level.
- Providing constructability input during review of contractor's design deliverables.

- Supporting the Employer in protecting the businesses reputation through management of stakeholders and monitoring contractor compliance with consents, Undertakings & Assurances, and community relations.
Dimensions & Interfaces
Reports to the Traction Power & OHLE Construction Manager.
- Works with other Site Engineers, and through the Traction Power & OHLE Construction Manager, with the Project Field Engineer, Area HSE representatives, and Community Relations representatives as required.
- Collaborates with contractor's and subcontractor's representatives.
- Develops effective working relationships with key stakeholders
Person Specification
Experience of Overhead Line Equipment construction on significant major project infrastructure works
- Knowledge and experience of construction quality systems and processes
- Understanding of project controls processes
- Knowledge and experience of site-based ES&H processes and procedures
- Prior experience in supervising and administering contractors.
Role Specific Requirements
- OHLE construction, cable pulling, and earthing and bonding experience.
- Knowledge of Standards applicable to railways.
