The East West Rail Alliance is a "pure" alliance consisting of three Non-Owner Participants (NOPs); VolkerRail, Atkins Global, Laing O'Rourke and the Owner Participant (OP), Network Rail.
East West Rail (EWR) phase 2 is a £1 billion programme and one of the most prestigious projects in the UK Infrastructure pipeline. It will provide a strategic route linking key centres of economic activity between Oxford, Milton Keynes, Aylesbury and Bedford.
The Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Site Engineer with utilities experience. The role will cover the management of utility service diversions and new connections.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Utilities Project Manager, the Site Engineer - Utilities will be required to carry out a range of duties including:
- Manage and plan the contract resources and activities to meet the productivity, financial, environmental and quality targets.
- Manage the utilities Site Supervisors & Reinstatement resources (both Direct and Subcontractor) and administration staff where provided to ensure they effectively deliver in accordance with the Project requirements and compliance with the Contract Terms & Conditions.
- Manage utilities operational resource in an effective manner to ensure work is completed to programme, budget and within required SHEQ standards.
- Liaise with clients and internal management to ensure compliance with Standards, Policy & Procedures and Industry Regulations and Legislation.
- Preparation and submission of notices under the SEHAUC and Elgin processes.
- Work closely with the commercial team to ensure all Early Warnings / variations are captured & agreed.
- Liaise with Highway Authorities, clients, customers, 3rd Parties & stakeholders at site level, building strong working relationships and attending meetings as required.
Job Requirements
The successful candidate will have the following experience/skill set:
- Degree level qualification in a Civil Engineering/similar subject or HNC in Civil Engineering and vocational training in Engineering
- Good knowledge and experience of Water, Gas, Electricity and Multi-Utility Registration Scheme regulations, procedures and quality requirements.
- Working knowledge of NRSWA / HAUC processes for the administration of street and Highway works
- Relevant CSCS Card
- Good practical knowledge of standard planning tools and techniques (including P6 Primavera and MS Project software)
- Technical knowledge of Multi-Utility construction techniques and best practices
- Solid understanding of engineering principles and their practical application on site
