TECHNOLOGY SITE ENGINEER – A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon Improvement Scheme

ROLE

To work as part of the Technology design team on site as a technology specialist.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITY: The co-ordination and resolution of design queries relating to the technology elements during the construction, commissioning and handover of the scheme. Additional and specialist design support will be by back office technical staff who will visit site as required.

COMPETENCY (training to be provided): Site driving training (full, clean licence required), Motorway Pass (HE Common Induction)

EXPERIENCE: Must have experience of motorway communications (ITS) design, preferably some experience on-site. Experience of street lighting design is desirable.

REPORTING TO (SITE): Technology Design Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES (But Not Limited to and subject to agreement)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Respond to Technical Queries (TQ’s) and Requests for Information (RFI’s) relating to Technology / motorway communications and Lighting.
• Attend site coordination and planning meetings as required.
• Raise Early Warnings on the design elements.
• Coordinate design updates for Value Engineering (VE) opportunities
• Maintain and update the Technology series of the Works information following changes as the scheme progresses.
• Review Materials Approval Requests (MARs) submitted by Contractors for Technology / motorway communications aspects of the works
• Maintain the Highways England Bulk Purchase forecast and emergency requisitions.
• Monitor and Identify additional technology supporting resourcing requirements as a consequence of the Contractor’s programme during construction, testing and commissioning.
• Assist Contractor on liaison with Technology stakeholders, including RTMC, NRTS & Regional Control Centre (RCC), NTIS and third party stockholders.
• Liaison with multidiscipline site team during construction.
• Liaison with Site data designer to ensure site data load is planned and implemented to meet the construction programme.
• Liaison with HADECS specialists for site visit, system commissioning and evidential trail.
• Liaison with the design office for further specialist Technology / motorway communications support as required
• Liaison with Technology back-office staff on buildability and changes to the Technology design and maintenance of a Lesson Learned log
• Assist with the commissioning and compilation of Technology handover information including reviewing Contractors red line mark ups of drawings, TPMS databases (SAR and MCH1399) and maintenance manuals on a regular basis as the scheme progresses.
• Review NRTS design / SCF against the comms and site data design
• Update RMAS database
• Arrange the checking / signing off for BS7671 test certificates in a timely manner
• Prepare departures from standards (either NRTS or HE departures) or delegate to the back-office design team
• Preparing MCH 1885 CCTV site data form
• Preparing MCH 2543 ERT site data form
• Prepare or liaise with back-office design team provide audit trial to assist the commercial team with determining Compensation Events or closing out NCRs
• Input to the PCF SGAR6 documents
