As a BIM Information Manager / Content Specialist you will form part of a critical element of content management, data procurement and other related activities. The role itself requires strong data management skills across many areas of design, data standards and systems with specific emphasis on BIM, CAD and GIS activities including: tools, formats, data schemas and the information derived or produced from them. You will be working with other technical teams in Management Systems/BIM with a particular focus on Technology, GIS, BIM and Asset Information.
About the role:
- Responsible for management of 3rd Party data within the Common Data Environment with the particular emphasis on data provisioning for Design and Construction supply chain;
- Assist the GIS Data management team with the procurement, quality management and delivery of 3rd Party data;
- Assist with the management of and Supplier data within the Common Data Environment and other Information Systems managed by the Management Systems/BIM team;
- Responsible for management of the delivery of Supplier and 3rd Party data to project stakeholders;
- Responsible for management of any data conversion or transformation requirements with particular emphasis on those between CAD and GIS data sets;
- Assist Information Managers on all aspects of supplier BIM Execution Planning associated with 3rd party and /or other related data;
- Assist the BIM Development Manager and GIS Lead with the convergence and development of integrated of BIM, CAD and GIS standards methods and procedures;
- Assist Phase Information Managers to ensure incoming CAD data is of sufficient quality and to agreed standards to meet BIM objectives;
- Assist Phase Information Managers to perform the BIM audit function for the assigned contract area, supporting audits where necessary with particular emphasis on data management and quality;
- Assist with the repurpose of data for output, simulation and /or other further functional uses required by such as cost, programme or operational planning;
- Communicate early and effectively on the status of work products to the BIM Development Manager and / or GIS Data Manager Implement appropriate security protocols to ensure access to data is fully controlled and protected.
About You:
- Knowledge of current BIM strategies, requirements and codes of practice (UK Government 2016 strategy, BS1192:2007 etc.);
- Knowledge of open and /or proprietary data formats and schemas such as GML, XML, IFC and DGN or DWG;
- Knowledge of data licencing, copyright and lineage standards and requirements;
- Proven experience working within a large project environment and /or an appropriate large organisation;
- Experience of procuring and managing data from of 3rd Party data suppliers and owners;
- Experience of common data modelling systems and tools from vendors such as ESRI, Bentley Systems and Autodesk;
- Accuracy and attention to detail are critical, as are organisational skills and the ability to perform in a high volume, priority changing environment.
