Ford & Stanley - The Rail Recruitment Experts are recruiting a Bid Manager for a global rail organisation based in Derby, who are experts in delivering quality consultancy services within the rail industry.

The Opportunity

The ideal candidate will play a key part in working as a member of the central Bid Team, the Bid Manager will manage, co-ordinate and product proposal responses whilst assembling a proposal team with the relevant service or business knowledge required to win. This position requires an ability to work under pressure, to challenging deadlines and to ensure that all bids have the right expression.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Create, manage and maintain effective relationships with customers to ensure the business delivers the most valuable service.
  • Delivery of complaint, professionally produced proposals within agreed timescales.
  • Strive to minimise the cost of bidding, ensuring the costs for bids are controlled effectively.
  • Work closely with the team to ensure proposals are correctly priced and risks are minimised.
  • Act as a significant Bid Leader to ensure successful bids are completed or nominate an appropriate bid leader and support the process.
  • Support regional offices with bidding requirement when required.
  • Contribute to a continuous improvement culture.
  • Coordinate and review/edit proposal input from stakeholders.
  • Able to effectively write a non-technical bid material.
  • Take full ownership and responsibility of bids assigned to you.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will play a key part in becoming an integral member of the team to maintain the company's market-leading position in the Rail industry. You will need to be able to demonstrate management responsibilities such as work delegation. You will also need to focus on exceeding client expectations and have a proven track record of helping the client's businesses succeed.

Essentials

  • Previous experience working within the Rail industry.
  • Experience in scheduling and running proposal meetings.
  • Excellent project management capability, including the ability to work under pressure to deliver bids against deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft packages, including MS Project.

Desirable

  • Chartered Engineer
  • Capability in the use of IN Design Software
  • Certified to APMP foundation / Practitioner Level, PRINCE2 or similar.
