THE COMPANY
You could get the opportunity of a lifetime to work for this Global Engineering and Technology business. Their UK operation employs around 1000 people covering existing and start-up operations spanning eight locations including several depots across the country including a vast manufacturing facility here in the UK.
The company have secured a number of high profile orders with full life-cycle maintenance contracts to manufacture and maintain over 200 brand new trains and as a result, will look to increase their headcount to 2000 by 2020 to meet the demands of these contracts.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
This role would ideally suit a strong leader with a Manufacturing facility of high value capital equipment, with the ability to guide teams in Development, Testing and Post Production Works, before preparing the products for departure. You’ll also have a keen eye for continuous improvement to ensure all these activities are performed efficiently, effectively and above all safely.
ABOUT THE JOB
With three Production Managers, and the Test Engineering Manager reporting directly to you, you’ll have a full overview of all the Testing Activities for the projects, therefore you can continually be defining, leading and constantly improving the commissioning process. You will also develop strategies for the manufacturing unit in light of new projects, constant change and drive for efficiencies and improvements. As the company wins new projects you’ll be re-design the commissioning facility layout to accommodate the projects and develop commissioning process cost targets. You will strategically own the commissioning element throughout the project mobilisation, design, procurement and change phases leading up to the first product release.
THE REQUIREMENTS

Educated to degree level in a relevant Manufacturing, Engineering or equivalent level experience.

Comfortable working with ambiguity.

In depth knowledge of manufacturing process improvement tools, e.g. Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing (JIT, KanBan, Kaizen, 5S) systems.

Management experience in a leadership role within a low volume high value manufacturing environment.

Demonstrated track record in leading a health and safety culture in a factory / test / depot environment (or equivalent).

SAP knowledge

Six Sigma certified.
THE SALARY
Circa £70,000 per annum + Excellent Pension + Healthcare + 25 Days Holiday + BH
