My client currently has an opportunity for an experienced Electrification Construction Manager (Foundations) based in Newport for a contract. You will be responsible for the Management of a team of Engineers and Foundation subcontractors involved with an OLE project. You will have an in depth understanding of the relevant rail standards and in OLE foundation installation. As an experienced OLE Construction Manager, you will have an appreciation of OLE systems, with specific competency within the planning and implementation of foundation installation.
Key Responsibilities to:-
Assist and support the Delivery Manager ensuring project compliance with statutory legislation, Network Rail Group and Company Standards, and Company management systems, processes and procedures.
Deliver project to cost, programme and specification
Monitor and control costs
Identify resources and sub-contractors to enable project delivery
Lead, manage and motivate Engineers, supervisors and team
Interface with design and estimators throughout project
Monitor, update and amend plans as and when required
Review and Progress variations with QS and incorporate into plan
Manage client relationships
Carry out safety, quality and technical inspections
Plan, produce and deliver safety briefings
Produce and approve risk assessments and method statements
Produce internal and external reports
Develop innovative solutions to challenges.
Be able to read and understand the relevant cross sections and layouts for the delivery
Actively manage and report any on-site changes / variations to planned site activities
Ensure that tool box talks, task briefs and COSS briefs are carried out, recorded and archived for allocated contracts
Ensure that all works are undertaken in accordance with the planned safe method of work working
Manage sub-contractors, contract staff and direct labour
Carry out and review performance reviews, administer poor performance, attendance and disciplinary procedures when required
The role is one of Senior supervision and based generally in a site environment
It is a requirement of the role to attend site on a regular basis (including night time)
Hold disciplinary meeting as and when required
Promote safe working practices; ensure full implementation and compliance with safety rules and regulations.
Skills and Experience:-
Read, understand and comment on OLE Drawings
A background in Civil and/or geotechnical Engineering is essential
Use of Railway planning systems (essential)
Knowledge of HS&E requirements
Commercial and financial awareness
Experience in Managing and leading a Foundations OLE site team to successfully deliver high profile multi discipline contracts
A broad appreciation and experience of railway OHL installation and equipment
Qualifications Required:-
Hold an Engineering Qualification (HNC)
Computer literacy – Excel, Word, Power point and Outlook
Hold PTS /IWA
