Role: Engineering Manager (Defence + Nuclear)
Location: Southampton
Salary: £60,000 £80,000 (negotiable)
I am looking to place an Engineering Manager with both Design and Operations experience in an international consultancys Southampton office primarily overseeing a variety of civil, structural and mechanical design projects in partnership with the Ministry of Defence (MOD) with the ultimate goal being successful delivery of the Royal Navys Continuous At Sea Deterrent (CASD). On the Technical Design side, you will be a Chartered Engineer with experience of Civil, Structural, M+E, Building Services or Lifting Operations. On the Operations Side, you will have experience of stakeholder engagement, procurement, proposals management and team management experience. It is likely you will have at least 10-15 years experience in an engineering/operations role.
Due to the multidisciplinary nature of the upgrade works, the ideal individual will be able to coordinate designers from all engineering backgrounds covering projects such as Civil/Structural/M+E designers on MOD facility upgrades, ship lifts, berthing, sea walls, ports/jetties (including Electric Overhead Traveling cranes) and nuclear weapons storage facilities. You will lead engineering review meetings with other design leads to ensure effective and cost-efficient delivery of projects.
Ideally, all applicants will be Chartered Engineers with membership of a relevant body (ICE/IStructE/IMechE) and have experience leading teams of designers on a wide variety of projects. Further, it would be advantageous if applicants had experience dealing with nuclear safety case engineers as the firm handles multiple projects with nuclear propulsion facilities, atomic weapons storage facilities and nuclear new build schemes so experience in these areas would be useful. Due to the nature of work, successful candidates will be required to obtain SC Clearance.
In return for the right experience, the firm can offer a highly competitive salary, a range of personalised benefits (including flexible working options) and the opportunity to work on a defence infrastructure programme that will leave a legacy for decades.
