Key Areas of Responsibility & Accountability:
- Acting as the main Engineering & technical manager on project
- Accountability for the engineering team on site.
- Manage the maintenance of engineering control throughout the project.
- Checking design drawings and models issued by the design team.
- Overseeing the selection and requisition of survey equipment.
- Making cost-effective solutions and proposals for the intended project.
- Contributing to quality control in line with ITP process.
- Resolving any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.
- Efficient deployment of company resource with a good understanding of output and project efficiencies, task identification and leadership.
- Provide leadership and direction to individuals assigned to ensure the safe and efficient discharge of the works to specification and to a good standard of quality.
- Ensure 'Right First Time' approach to all work, aiming towards 'zero defects'.
- Monitor survey equipment efficiency avoiding unnecessary costs and damages.
- Maintain professional approach positively reflecting the image of the company.
- Ensure works are carried out in a safe manner adhering to site specific Risk Assessment & Method Statements
- Responsible for personnel welfare and adherence to CDM requirements
- Deliver/attend inductions/tool box talks/all appropriate briefings as required.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Appropriate Engineering Degree qualification
- Minimum 5year experience in a similar role
- Professionally qualified (preferred)
- CSCS Supervisor/Management card
- SMSTS
- PTS (preferred)
Knowledge/Experience:
- Highly proficient with setting out techniques
- CAD experience
- Experience and knowledge of machine control/survey modelling.
- Working Knowledge of Health & Safety / CDM responsibilities
- Experience of NEC & ICE contracts
- Knowledge of safety, quality and environmental procedures
- Knowledge of commercial and financial procedures
- General civil engineering experience/knowledge ie. drainage/earthworks/structures/geotechnical.
- Rail experience/knowledge ie. track laying/OHLE works
- Demonstrable knowledge of plant + equipment and materials management.
- Meticulous record keeping
