Environmental Manager/ Senior Environmental Manager in Birmingham, West Midlands, United Kingdom

Our client has some exciting opportunites for both Environmental Manaers and Senior Environmental Managers to join their growing team in the Midlands. This is to work on a high profile civils/ rail project.
All opportunites are permanent opportunities and will be based out of the Birmingham office. Travel to site will be minimal and only when project demands require this to happen.

JOB PURPOSE
Manage the environmental assessment work (including associated assessments) developed for the hybrid Bill for the proposed railway corridor from the West Midlands to Crewe in accordance with organisational, sponsor and parliamentary requirements.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
†Manage the Area Teamâ€s environmental assessment requirements and deliverables, working in close association with the rest of the Area Team (particularly the Area Route Engineers), Technical Directorate specialists and Parliamentary Agents. Ensure all client requirements are met for environmental products required for the hybrid Bill.
†Provide advice to develop environmental design solutions and ensure that environmental sustainability issues continue to be embedded as an integral part of the project design in accordance with the Sustainability Policy and Plan.
†Work collaboratively with other technical specialists including engineers, construction experts, architects, property advisors, environmental and sustainability specialists to achieve world class integrated designs and develop appropriate and cost balanced mitigation strategies and solutions.
†Ensure requirements for consultants are developed in a timely manner, working collaboratively with the Client and Project Integration team.
†Manage technical stakeholder engagement (working closely with the Stakeholder Team and Technical Directorate) via various different forums to obtain information to inform the development of the assessment and design and to ensure the stakeholderâ€s environmental and sustainability requirements are understood and managed so as to minimise petition risk and to support the development of a world class railway.
â€Provide support to the hybrid Bill team, including the relevant expert witnesses on environmental issues
†Manage the response to general internal and external enquiries (including FOIs and EIRs) on Area environmental (including EIA, EqIA and HIA) matters (with support from consultants).
†Support the Senior Environment Manager on internal and external reporting of environmental matters.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE
†Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a relevant environmental/ built environmental discipline.
†Membership of a relevant environmental/ built environmental organisation is desirable.
†Experience of managing environmental assessment (EIA) on large or complex infrastructure/ engineering projects.
†Proven knowledge of EU and UK environment legislation and current best practice guidance.
†Proven ability to manage people and consultants and to work across multidisciplinary teams.
†Track record in delivering robust reports for major projects.
†Strong numeracy, written and verbal communication skills and the aptitude to rationally explain, explore and discuss environmental issues to a range of stakeholders.
†Experience of working under extremely tight deadlines and in a constantly changing project environment.
