SPL Powerlines UK Ltd are a growing overhead line company looking to recruit experienced Environmental Manager to work on the Midland Mainline Electrification project.

Midland Mainline Electrification project, is part of the National Electrification Programme, and is due to be commissioned in December 2019.

Environment Manager will provide the strategic framework for the coordinated management of the project environmental impacts and mitigation strategies across project activities and also seeks to ensure continuous improvement in the overall environmental performance of the project.

The Sustainability Manager is responsible for the implementation of the environmental management procedures outlined within Environment Management Plan over the life of the Project. Specifically, this includes:

• ensuring that the overall program meet contractual, legal and other environmental and sustainable requirements;
• meeting the requirements of ISO 14001 including the need for continual improvement in environmental risk management;
• providing environmental advice and support to project managers and other staff as necessary; and
• Providing all personnel with systems, procedures and documentation necessary to ensure that the project operates within all relevant environmental requirements (and training in the same).

A key area of responsibility in the pre-construction phase will be to work alongside Atkins in the development of the EMP, ecology, land acquisition, heritage, sustainability leadership, design and survey requirements, to meet IMS and Network Rail requirements, to permit work activities to commence on site.

The sustainability Manager also provides functional professional support to the environment, sustainability and community members of the team.

Applicants must be chartered and have 5 years professional experience or more. Rail experience advantageous but not essential.
