Maclean Moore are working with a major rail company who are currently looking for a External Communications Manager within the Rail Sector to start ASAP paying up to £325/day based in their central London Paddington office.

You will use your rail experience to provide support across our client’s media relations team, working in close proximity to the Head of Media and he senior management team.

The successful candidate will assist in building and maintaining the reputation of the organisation within the media, ensuring that the companies views are sought and recognised across a range of industry issues and maximising a number of media channels and platforms to reach our target audiences.

Responsibilities include:

• Be the first point of contact for a strong and efficient media response service. Build relationships with journalists, working closely with trade bodies and other stakeholders, to explain and develop complex issues.
• Create and distribute corporate press releases.
• Support the senior management team with briefing materials and other documents as needed.
• Work with communications colleagues across the Group to ensure the coordination of key initiatives and support for business objectives, namely on cross-industry issues.

Whilst an initial 6 months, the role has the potential to be extended and possibly to ultimately become permanent.

What we're looking for:

• Degree qualified.
• Media relations, communications or PR experience - in a corporate role, is essential.
• Public affairs experience advantageous.
• Ideally a strong knowledge of the transport sector, particularly rail and bus.
• Excellent, effective and influential oral and written communication skills.

Location: Central London

Rate: Up to £330/day
