What will I be doing?
As the lead professional for all Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental matters, your role will be pivotal in providing advice to the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors. You will be responsible for the safe and timely deployment of HSQE services to ensure all stakeholders receive a perfect service by managing and directing the team to effectively deliver a product aligned to rail and construction industry standards. On a day to day basis your duties and responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing operational plans for your area of responsibility.
- Driving and leading the Risk Management Maturity Model (RM3), 5 Steps to Zero Safety campaign and Fatigue monitoring and management in line with infrastructure sector requirements
- Leading and managing any incident/accident investigations and ensure satisfactory closure within agreed timescales.
- Providing advice as a Principal Contractor on applicable projects
- Developing productive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Ensuring HSQE requirements are met throughout the business.
- Managing business processes.
- Providing leadership in your area of responsibility.
- Ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, ethical and social requirements.
- Leading, planning and implementing change in your area of responsibility.
- Planning & leading HSQE meetings, ensure agendas are set and minutes/actions recorded and followed up.
- Manage finance for your area of responsibility
- Ensuring compliance to all company / industry / legal processes for your area of responsibility.
- Providing accurate and compliant responses to tender enquiries inc. detailed overview of services along with appropriate qualifications/assumption
- Build excellent relationship with client HSQE and construction teams.
- Support the setting of annual budgets for office delivery and provide regular reports / statistics on team/contractor performance.
- Ensuring your team delivers all safety briefs, tool box talks are delivered and recorded each period.
- Ensuring a daily review of labour performance for any safety related incidents, exceedance of rail working hours, close calls.
- Working in partnership with group training provider to plan contractor training to ensure no adverse impact on client delivery.
- Pro-actively managing contractor performance and attendance by arranging meetings to investigate safety concerns or discuss performance and attendance issues.
What experience would we like you to have?
Our ideal candidate will have achieved or be working towards CMIOSH, hold NEBOSH qualifications, and considerable experience of working within the Rail and/or Construction industry as a HSQE successfully managing and developing a range of HSQE customer facing and support staff. Should the successful candidate hold qualifications in management, such as ILM5, audit, process improvement or safety these would be advantageous, although not essential
We are looking for a seasoned professional with experience of business-to-business customer service experience, coupled with good communication skills and experience of working to set procedures / processes, you will be someone who interfaces successfully with staff across all departments within the Company, business partners, clients and Group and capable of co-ordinating resources and suppliers to deal with work in hand. You will be able to optimise performance of your department and where required and also assist less experienced staff.
