Ford & Stanley - The Rail Recruitment Experts are recruiting a HR Manager who will partner with the business leadership team in defining and implementing business strategy and work with them to attract, develop and retain an engaged workforce and build an organisational culture.
The Opportunity
Our client specialises in a range of skills, resources and technologies that help to improve the country's railways.
This is an opportunity for someone to join a global corporate organisation, covering over 450 employees on site and 30 offsite with the responsibility and management of two HR Advisors.
The HR Manager will be responsible for providing proactive and professional HR support and advice to the business on employee relations, orgainsation design, workforce planning, HR policies and other relevant HR areas.
This is a challenging position where you must be able to communicate effectively with all levels from the shop floor to the Managing Director. You must come across as confident in leading and managing change within the workforce, ensuring the required standards are met.
The HR Manager must have experience working in a large and complex manufacturing environment - ideally within the rail industry.
Location: Burton-On-Trent
Role and Responsibilities
- First point of contact for advice on absence, capability, grievance & disciplinary issues.
- Working with Managers on recruitment & selection.
- Provide guidance and support of departmental restructuring initiatives to ensure fair and transparent processes are followed.
- Responsible for providing HR KPI's and reports providing key data to help managers make informed business decisions.
- Work with managers to determine the training & development needs of each department and provide support to them to ensure delivery against the plan.
- Support & coach managers on all aspects of HR polices, procedure and employment law.
- Ensure that performance management is embedded.
- Responsible for apprentice / training recruitment and training, ensuring that the apprenticeship levy is used to best effect.
- Support HR changes.
- Provide leadership, support and guidance to the HR Advisors.
- Provide support to the wider UK HR team on complex disciplinary and grievance matters.
Essentials
- Graduate calibre
- CIPD qualified
- Broad and solid generalist HR experience preferably within a unionised, manufacturing environment
- Previous experience of managing and developing people is essential
- A good level of commercial awareness
- Up to date knowledge of employment law
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Experience of working with HRIS systems
