Infrastructure Manager in City of Preston, Lancashire, United Kingdom
THE ROLE
You will be responsible for undertaking principal and general inspections in accordance with BD63/17. Primary duties will be office and site-based, supporting senior inspectors as well as planning, undertaking Principal and General inspections and generating reports in various formats.
The successful candidate will develop from a BICS certified Bridge Inspector to a Senior Inspector, focusing on increased experience, structural knowledge and programme management capabilities. As such, a Bridge Inspector will still be required to lead inspection teams, provide supervision to junior inspectors, as well as be expected to write RAMS and organise equipment/ materials, but also deal with minor projects from inception to completion under minimal supervision. Secondary duties will be to plan and undertake Non-Destructive Testing surveys and write reports to various concrete and steel structures, as well as contribute to the delivery of Tool Box Talks to other members of the team as part of group CPD.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
* Desktop studies on structures
* Writing standard and non-standard RAMS
* Arranging plant & equipment
* Writing General and Principal Inspection reports using multiple methods of inspection reporting such as SMIS, BCI forms and in traditional 'handwritten' format
* Planning NDT inspections
* Writing NDT reports
* Manage minor projects under minimal supervision
* Provide supervision and mentoring to junior Inspectors where appropriate (i.e. writing General and Principal Inspection / NDT reports using various methods)
Site duties will include;
* Carrying out General & Principal Inspections to non-specialised structures
* Carry out Principal Inspections to specialised structures under supervision & continued mentorship
* Undertake NDT works, such as identifying test panels, organising appropriate equipment and staging works
* Lead inspection teams
* Deliver site briefings
* Provide supervision and mentoring to junior Inspectors where appropriate (i.e. General Inspections and Principal Inspections to non-specialised structures & NDT techniques)
A Bridge Inspector may be required to undertake additional duties, within reason, to ensure the company's overall requirements are met.

* CSCS Operative (required)
* First Aider (required)
* STE Level 4 (desirable)
* New Roads & Street Works Act - Operative (desirable)
* Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (desirable)
* Civil Engineering Qualification (ONC as a minimum, HNC/D preferred) (desirable)
* Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook (required)
