Vital Rail, part of the Morson Group, is recruiting for the following role due to continued growth in the UK Rail sector. As the UK’s largest supplier of skilled labour to the UK Rail Industry, safety is the number one priority of the Vital business and therefore an experienced and committed HSE Manager is sought after to ensure this is demonstrated at all times through the culture and the behaviors of all Vital Rail representatives.

Job Specification:

• Manage all HSE matters
• Develop and manage effective communication of HSE matters through appropriate safety meetings and company communication channels
• Provide advice and support to operational units in HSE matters
• Specify and carry out HSE audits
• Undertake site inspections and tours
• Carry out safety briefings and tool box talks on site
• Attend various safety forums and meetings
• Produce and monitor monthly HSE KPI’s
• Support incident/accident investigations and produce reports
• Maintain reports and safety records
• Continually strive to improve HSE standards
• Manage Safety Advisors and site safety vehicles

Job Requirements:

• Based in Manchester but a National Role
• Rail HSE Management experience essential
• IOSH desirable
• Knowledge of HS&E Legislation
• Knowledge of Rail Standards
• PTS essential
• IRCA auditor status desirable
• Knowledge and experience of ISO9001, ISO14001, BS OHSAS 18001
• Experience of accident investigations and reporting
• Knowledge of HSE Risk Assessments
• Microsoft office skills, Word and Excel essential
• Good analytical, presentation and communication skills essential
• Occasional unsociable hours and weekend work involved
• Approx 35% office based and 65% site and travel time
