In Australia, our internationally renowned client has been a long term partner, and continues to support the national Transport Sector. Thier trains dominate the Melbourne suburban network alongside thier Trams that also operate in both Melbourne and Adelaide.

The Role

This role is responsible for the overall Overhead Catenary system installation management consisting of the installation of the; contact wire suspension fittings, contact wires stringing and adjustment, IS, Surge arresters, tensioning devices and the fixation/adaptation to existing structures.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure that the relevant equipment is installed in conformity with the basic and detail designs, the installation method statement, the QA/QC plan and the time schedule.
  • Co-ordination on technical aspects with the OLE Designers and report back design issues encountered.
  • Co-ordination on workload aspects with the OLE planners and managing the workload within the framework of Fee Occupancy scheme.
  • Participate to the preparation of the look-ahead installation schedule and to report installation progress to the OLE Project Engineers.
  • Confirm that installation subcontractors are providing appropriate resources (human and material) to complete the job on time with the required level of quality.
  • Manage and control the subcontractors performance as per their subcontracts obligations.
  • Before and during installation, co-ordinate with the Civil Contractors and other third parties on site for access to the site, traffic control, security, permits, availability and quality of structure delivered by Civil Works (poles, building anchors etc).
  • Monitor/implement the Environment Health and Safety (EHS) management plan and recommendations issued by site EHS Manager.

To be successful in this role you will ideally have:

  • Knowledge of Light Rail OHW design would be advantageous.
  • OLW installation management on urban railway projects.
  • Minimum 7 Years’ experience working within the field of railway catenary installation.
  • Knowledge of the rail environment and construction practices and regulations in Victoria would advantageous.
  • Ability to manage sub-contractors in the field and manage EHS & QCD requirements.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, flexible and adaptable and able to work as part of a team with a strong focus on quality and delivery.
