To manage the Power Team(s) in the safe execution of power design activities required to deliver power project works, whilst maximising the efficiencies associated with best use of standard power design tools and procedures. Providing technical leadership to the power teams and interfacing to all forms of internal and external Project Management, Engineering, Commercial, Installation and Test disciplines. The role requires a proactive practical approach to resource management. An ability to clearly communicate complex technical issues is essential.
Key Result Areas
-Support the Power Engineering Manager in the management of the Power Department
-Lead the Power Design teams in the Delivery of major and minor project works predominantly acting as RDE Power Design, taking responsibility for coordinated delivery of all aspects of the design solutions.
-Provide an effective mechanism for power team management with clear communication lines, creating a sense of urgency to safely meet project timescales and budget expectations.
-Manage power team delivery performance ensuring consistency of design output and compliance with defined company standards, power design principles, industry standards and clients project requirements
-Liaise with Power Engineering Manager and Planner to develop and maintain accurate delivery schedules and resource forecasts.
-Manage Authority to Work and Mentorship requirements within the Power Department
-Motivate and develop staff, empowering team members to achieve their plans and growth targets and ensure the long term sustainability of the team
-Role model and promote health, safety and environment
-Ensure team procedures and work practices are documented and managed
-Promote the best practice use of power design tools and processes

Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Skills:
-Knowledge of Applicable Standards
-Knowledge of Project Safety requirements

Qualifications:
-Degree level education in an Electrical/Electronic Engineering discipline
-PTS and/or ST1
-Corporate Member of lET with CEng / IEng
-C&G 2382 and 2394
Experience:
-Power/systems engineering experience in project delivery
-Extensive knowledge of engineering interface with other disciplines, i.e. Civil Engineering, Permanent Way, Signalling and Telecommunications
-Project Management and Finance Management
-Resource planning and utilisation
-Training and development of staff
