The Opportunity
The role of the Procurement Manager is both supportive and collaborative in managing the procurement of goods and services. Our client is looking for a competent individual to be responsible for the delivery and maintenance of a contracts database and supplier approval process. Joining an expanding division, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the organisation maintains their reputation as one of the UK's leading train operators.

Role and Responsibilities:
- Responsibility for a rolling programme of contractual renewal and tendering as detailed in the procurement strategy ensuring that all process and negotiations are managed professionally and that appropriate Terms and Conditions are agreed and documented.
- Co-ordinating the production of invitation to tender documents, evaluation plans and reports and undertaking supplier reviews strategy and savings plans to deliver long-term savings on procurement costs.
- Supporting the business owners and functional manager to agree product and service specifications and assist the business in effective contract management including building collaborative supplier relationships.
- Responsibility for the maintenance of a supplier and contract database and library to provide a comprehensive auditable document storage system of all commercial contractual interfaces ensuring the availability of data to support supplier performance, contracting reporting and provision of information to stakeholders
- Creating effective stakeholder relationship management, ensuring buy-in from stakeholders to implement appropriate supplier strategies and deliver best value for the business.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is results-driven with a high level of motivation and initiative. It is essential that you can work both autonomously and collaboratively to achieve successful results. You will be tasked with communicating both internally and with external suppliers, a confident demeanour combined with strong negotiation skills will ensure you are able to influence and challenge the status quo.
Essentials / Desirables
- Membership of Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply or similar professional qualification (desirable)
- Public sector procurement experience and knowledge
- A proven track record with 2 years' experience in procurement or purchasing (rail desirable)
- Experience of procuring a wide range of goods and services with varying levels of value, specification and risk.
- Good appreciation of supply markets and potential new supplier with demonstrable experience of cultivating strong relationships with existing and potential suppliers
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate and challenge the status quo
- The ability to manage financial aspects and understand budget management processes with the aptitude to effectively analyse data and costs
