What can you bring to this role?

• A professional qualification, HND or Degree, in Ecology, Geography, Sustainability or similar, alongside being a member of IEMA
• You’ll also have a background in Civil Engineering, ideally rail, but if not heavy civils, as you’ll have to be able to hit the ground running on this large-scale project
• Having previously worked with noise pollution issues will also be advantageous but not a deal breaker

What will you be doing as Senior Environmental Advisor?

With the current set up of the team, you’ll sit between the current Environmental Advisor and the Environmental Manager. Working closely with both of them, you will focus on key disciplines such as noise pollution, contaminated land, proximity to water courses and sustainability. A normal day could involve attending ‘take off meetings’, providing the input from an environmental perspective and providing additional commitments to the schemes you’ll be working on. You’ll also work closely with the on-site staff, running training sessions as and when required. Ecological issues will be top of your list as a lot of the projects involve bridges over water, therefore your understanding of this will be more than beneficial.

If you tend to shy away from responsibility, this role won’t be for you! This heavy civils project is looking for an individual who can tackle problems head on come up with solutions either on their own or as part of the larger Environmental team.
